General Description
Over the past 10 years there has been immense growth in the information and communications industry. Coupled with this there has been a trend towards specialisation in this field and a requirement for highly numerate graduates.
We offer a range of course material suited to those who’s first degree may not be in communications or who wish to continue a career in communications but with the rigorous treatment offered by a maths departments perspective.

This course is designed to guide the students from a degree into a career in research or industry.
Full year 12-month term.
A selection of topical subjects.
Small class sizes and young enthusiastic staff who are experts in their fields.
Fees are part funded under the post-graduate skills transfer program.
A 12 month research project chosen from a wide selection.
Material based current research papers in each subject.
Recognised under European Credit Transfer System (ECTS)
Course notes, weblinks to useful pages and previous exam papers, etc. are all stored electronically using the blackboard system.

Graduate Opportunities
This course will provide you with the flexibility to take up a wide range of jobs not only in communications but more generally in the field of modelling, analysis and many of the better paid and interesting jobs in Ireland and abroad.
It also offers an excellent basis on which to begin a career in research. This is especially as the courses offered present the student with current research and encourage the student to develop ideas upon this.
Duration
One year full-time from September.
Requirements
A second class honours degree in Mathematics (or a related area) or the equivalent. Good honours graduates in Computer Science, Engineering, or Physics with a strong mathematical background will also be considered.
