School of Mathematics, Statistics and Applied Mathematics
The School of Mathematics, Statistics and Applied Mathematics at NUI Galway is pleased to propose two scholarships for MSc (Research) in Applied Mathematics. These will provide for fees and a 1,000 €/month stipend for 16 months each, and must be completed by August 31, 2015 at the latest.
Applications will be reviewed by the School's Research Committee. The Scholarships will be awarded by following a 2-step competitive process. First, potential applicants are invited to identify which project suits their profile best, from the 6 potential projects presented in the next pages. They must then contact the corresponding Advisor, who will appraise their suitability. Where there is more than one suitable applicant per project at that stage, the Advisor must select only one candidate (deadline: 15-02-2013). Second, the selected candidate and potential Advisor write together and propose an application file to the Research Committee (see format below, deadline: 08-03-2012). The Committee will identify successful candidates and rank them. The Scholarship(s) will be offered to the highest ranked successful application(s). If a Scholarship is declined, it will be proposed to the next person in the list of successful candidates. Note that the Committee will consist of mathematicians who are not experts in any of the specific fields touched upon by the projects.
