P-splines Master-class

Venue:
The course will take place in Room C-007 in the Health Science Building (Building 16 in the map).

Registration:
The registration fee is €60 for ISA Members and €80 for non members (includes Tea/Coffee) to be paid on the day.  Please have the exact amount with you on the day. For those wishing to pay by cheque please make your cheque payable to the Irish Statistical Association.

Laboratory Session
Please bring a charged laptop with you for use during the laboratory sessions to avoid having to log on to the University network.  You will need to have R installed on your laptop in addition to the two packages listed below:

 R version 2.5 (or higher) (http://cran.r-project.org/)

 mgcv      http://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/mgcv/index.html

 rpanel    http://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/rpanel/index.html

1.30pm: Generalized linear smoothing
Optimal smoothing in action
Computer lab session 2 (R freeware)

Saturday October 3rd:

9.30am: Bayesian and mixed model smoothing
Multi-dimensional smoothing
12.00pm: Lunch
1.00pm: Specialized penalties
Penalized signal regression
3.00pm End
