About Me

I am a contract lecturer in the School of maths at NUI, Galway. I am also the coordinator of the mathematics support centre SUMS. before that, I was a postdoctoral researcher at NUI, Galway on the SFI funded project "Computing Subgroups of Finite Groups".

Teaching

I taught the following courses in Semester 1 2011/2012. I am teaching the following course in Semester 2 2011/2012.

Research

My research interests lie in Computational Group theory. I am interested in the table of marks of a finite group and its associated Burnside Ring. My PhD thesis involved developing and implementing new algorithms for the computation of the table of marks of a finite group. I am also a maintainer of the GAP table of marks library Tomlib.

Publications

  1. Computing the Table of Marks of a Cyclic Extensions, with G. Pfeiffer, accepted.
  2. Integer Sequences related to the Subgroup pattern of the Symmetric Group, with G. Pfeiffer, preprint.
Theses
  1. Computing the Table of Marks of a Finite Group, PhD Thesis NUI Galway 2010.
  2. The Subgroups of the Symmetric Group on Thirteen Points, MSc Thesis NUI Galway 2006.
