About Me

Robert Mangan

I am an Applied Mathematics PhD student in the Stokes Research Cluster of the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Applied Mathematics at NUI Galway, under the supervision of Prof Michel Destrade. My research is funded by a Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship from the Irish Research Council. I completed a B.Sc. in Applied Mathematics at NUI Galway in 2014.

My work involves modelling soft matter by applying the principles of Continuum Mechanics. I am particularly interested in wave propagation in biological tissues (e.g. the brain, arteries) as a means of determining the mechanical properties of said tissues.
