  • Solutions of systems of linear equations and their geometric interpretation,
  • Matrix algebra and determinants,
  • Eigenvalues and Eigenvectors,
  • and explains how these topics can be applied to
  • Macro economic models of a closed economy,
  • The Leonief input-output model,
  • Markov processes.

Students of the BA in Mathematical Studies program should write an essay to be handed up at the end of the semester, typed, and no longer than four pages, in one of the following topics.

  • The importance of mathematics for commerce and finance.
  • Mathematics and art.
  • Employment of mathematicians.
  • The History and contribution of a well known mathematician.
  • The applications of any aspect of the MA203 course material.
