This workshop is aimed at graduate students who would like to learn about algorithms for problems involving sparse linear systems. It will include motivation, mathematics and implementation of iterative solvers with an emphasis on multigrid methods.
The main intended audience is the NUI Galway and UCD students who participated in the Semester 2 graduate course on Numerical Linear Algebra. However, we strive to make the workshop self-contained, so it should be of interest to a wider group of researchers.
The workshop will be delivered by James Adler, Tufts Tufts University (with some help from Niall Madden.
The workshop will start at 11:00 Monday, 12 May, and finish at 12:00 (TBC), Wednesday, 14 May.
All sessions take place in Arás de Brún, NUI Galway. Exact room details are given in the session below. Tea/Coffee will be provided, provided by the NUI Galway, School of Mathematics, Statistics and Applied Mathematics. Lunch is at participants own expense. There will be an informal workshop dinner (also at participants' expense) on Monday evening. You can find information on parking on the main NUI Galway website. Visitors should park in a pay-and-display space: the clampers are ruthless!
