Overview

The BA Mathematical Studies programme encourages Arts students to develop their mathematical interests in a way that emphasizes the context, applications and breadth of the subject. The programme is an option in the BA (Joint Honours) degree and complements other numerically based options such as Economics, Geography or Psychology Studies. The programme meets the Teaching Council's subject requirements for teaching mathematics at second level and is often taken in conjunction with one other core teaching subject such as English, Irish or a modern language. But teaching is just one of many careers open to mathematical studies graduates.

The BA Mathematical Studies programme is different to the BA Mathematics programme. The differences are summarized here.
