The Postgraduate Seminar Group is a virtual seminar group for postgraduate students in The School of Mathematics, Statistics & Applied Mathematics, NUI Galway. Group meetings are held at 12pm midday every second Friday, and consist of two short seminars of roughly 10-15 minutes each, followed by about 5 minutes for Q&A. These seminars provide an opportunity for postgraduate students to share their current research progress or discuss topics of interest in any area of mathematics, and are typically delivered through PowerPoint or poster presentations on Zoom. All are welcome to join us for a chat over some tea or coffee after seminars. Please note that the seminar group has been suspended for the Summer; seminars will continue during the next academic year.
If you would like to join the seminar group or contribute a talk, please contact one of the organisers: Victoria Sánchez Muñoz or Peter Phelan. These activities are a great way to network with other postgraduates, gain experience with giving seminars, and improve communication skills. Everyone is welcome to join, from Master's to PhD students.
